I loved this book because it was funny at times, had a lot of suspense, and was sad, too. I liked Kirsti, Annemarie’s little sister, because she is funny. She reminds me of my aunt because she makes my whole family laugh! It’s full of suspense because when the author ends the chapter, you get curious about what will happen next. When I was reading the book, I felt sad because the Nazi soldiers treated people so badly. One of the characters that changed in the story was Annemarie because she learned that she was brave.
I strongly recommend this book because it shows how people in the past lived during World War II. I think 4th graders and higher should read this book because 3rd graders and younger might not understand it. I think that the story might interest people because it is historical fiction. I don’t think there’s another book like this book!
