The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane

The book The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane is packed with adventures and excitement. This book is about a china rabbit’s (Edward Tulane) adventures. One of Edward’s adventures is when he got tossed off of the Queen Mary and plunged down to the ocean floor where he lays for many years. After being rescued by a friendly fisherman, the fisherman takes him home. He learns to listen with the fisherman and his wife. After being separated from them, he lives with a hobo and his dog. After this Edward had many adventures.

The themes in this book are tragedy with happiness, love, loss, and longing. The lesson is to open your heart and to listen. My favorite part is when Edward gets thrown off the Queen Mary. I like this part because it is tragic and frightening at the same time. The character Edward Tulane reminds me of my cousin because at the beginning Edward is spoiled and so is she. My favorite character is the old baby doll because she is wise and taught Edward to open his heart. Edward’s character changed because at the beginning Edward was spoiled, but throughout the book he realizes what he really has.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys adventure books I think that this book is better for third, fourth, and fifth graders than first and second graders because it could make them cry. I hope you like this book as much as I did.
