Henry and Mudge the First Book

Henry wants a new dog and gets one. He names him Mudge, that’s the beginning. The problem is Mudge gets lost. Will Mudge have to suffer being alone or will Henry save Mudge? You will see what happens when you read the book.

I liked Henry and Mudge the First Book because it is sad. The sad part is when Mudge gets lost in the woods. Henry can’t find him anywhere. Cynthia Rylant writes; “Mudge couldn’t smell Henry. He couldn’t smell his front porch. He couldn’t smell the street he lived on.” Cynthia Rylant sounds like she is writing poetry in this book. I like Henry because he's very nice. He cares for his dog, Mudge. Henry and Mudge are best friends because they both care about each other and because they do nice things for each other. The illustrations in the book are great because it reminds me of the country where there are meadows and trees.

If you have a dog I recommend this book, because it might bring back memories of when you got your dog, or if you have a best friend
