This book is about when Henry and Mudge went camping in August at Big Bear Lake. Mudge packed his backpack with a lot of crackers and Henry made sure that he also had everything that he needed in his backpack. Henry's mom knew a lot about camping because she was a Camp Fire Girl when she was little. Henry's dad didn't know as much about camping. He didn't even know how to put up a tent. The only thing that he did was play a song on his guitar. Henry and Mudge had a lot of fun on their camping trip. Mudge smelled the trees and Henry looked at the stars. In the end the whole family went home together.
I liked the book because it was a good story. It was nice to read a bout a boy and his dog. Many children have dogs as pets and they like taking their pets on trips with the family. I really liked Henry because he loved his dog Mudge. I think that the book was a great story to read because it had great drawings. My favorite drawing was the one when Henry was having green dreams because it showed the whole family together.
I will recommend this book to other students because it is a nice book. It is really fun and exciting to read. I think it will remind students about when they have gone camping with their families
