"Hiss! Jonah rolled out onto the floor and began hissing and slithering too." The author I.M. Fine in the book has written these books about scary events. Suddenly, whoever reads those books has something bad happen to him. "Mind Wave" is about a girl whose head explodes. Suddenly, everybody who reads it has an exploding headache. Whoever reads "The Ghost of Creepy Hollow" thinks he/she is being followed by a ghost. Franny and Beamer are determined to find out why I.M. Fine is mad at the world and to get to the bottom of the mystery. Can they do it? Read the book to find out.
I loved how Diane Stanley really put a lot of suspense in the book. When Jake (I.M. Fine's dog) comes and attacks Franny and Beamer, I couldn't wait to see what would happen. The incident reminded me of when a dog attacked me. It was so suspenseful I nearly fell off my chair reading that part. I wonder why I.M. Fine is so mad at the world? What did it do to her? I also like how Diane Stanley made I.M. Fine seem like a witch. She lives in an old, creepy mansion and she has some magic she uses to make kids suffer. I like how she does this because I like mysterious and frightening characters in books.
I recommend you read this book because it is very suspenseful. When I.M. Fine opens the closet doors and finds two kids that just robbed her house, I was so scared for the kids that I was hooked. I had to find out what happened next. I recommend this book to all kids ages 9-11. The type and vocabulary are probably too easy for kids 12 and older.
